Freshness

Every document is dated to the day it was retrieved

The texts are acquired from CELLAR, the European Union's own publications database, and the pack records the acquisition of every document: the source URL, the retrieval timestamp, the SHA-256 of what was retrieved, and the consolidated-version date. Freshness here is a recorded fact you can inspect — consolidated text as of the Edition date — not a "live feed" you have to take on faith. When the rulebook moves, a new edition ships; an annual subscription covers every edition published during the term.

Perimeter

The perimeter is the contract — closed, and every document is named.

The edition declares what it contains — 24 documents across SFDR, EU Taxonomy, PRIIPs, UCITS, AIFMD and DORA — and it is validated against that list at build time. A question about anything outside the list has no answer in this pack, and the pack says so rather than guessing. The full perimeter is published below, with each document's CELEX identifier, so any citation can be checked against EUR-Lex directly.

Consolidated is the text with its amendments incorporated, as published by the source; as adopted is the right text for an instrument that amends others and carries no standalone regime. L1 is the legislative act; L2 the delegated or technical standard made under it.

Trust

Citenda ran sixteen acceptance questions at build time. Fourteen pass — and the two that do not are named.

The edition ships with its own acceptance record: ACCEPTANCE.md publishes all sixteen questions with their results. Fourteen pass. The two that do not — A08 (Taxonomy Regulation, Article 9) and A13 (AIFMD II) — are named on the artifact itself, each with the reason, so you read our misses before you rely on our passes. You can re-run the whole set on your own machine, and re-derive the published checksum with the included verify.py — offline, nothing installed, nothing phoned home.

Citenda states its limits before you have to ask

  • We never repair a damaged identifier. If an ISIN, IBAN or VAT number fails its own check digit, we flag it and point you at the source page.
  • We name what we could not read. Unreadable or poorly-converting documents are flagged and listed by name — never dropped quietly out of a total.
  • We do not cover spreadsheets. We convert PDF, HTML/XML, Word, PowerPoint, email and images, and we would rather say so than quietly index tabular data badly.
  • We do not upload your documents. Conversion, splitting and indexing run on your machines and make no outbound call; the answering step runs under your own AI account and key, in your own logs.
  • We stop rather than guess. When the set does not contain the answer, Citenda says so and shows what it looked at.
  • We do not claim accuracy on your archive until we have measured it. Every published figure comes from a corpus we built and a benchmark we ran ourselves, and we label it that way.

How do updates work?

An active annual subscription covers every edition published during the term. New edition → you get an email with the changelog and fresh download links. Editions are immutable full re-downloads — a fix ships as a new edition number, never a silent re-upload.

What exactly is in the files?

The declared texts in full, split into cited units with stable citation ids, plus each document's source record (URL, timestamp, SHA-256, consolidated-version date), the perimeter, the acceptance record and the verification tool. Plain, portable files — no proprietary format to unlock.

Can I put it in my internal pipeline?

Machine rights — internal automated or programmatic use — are granted at the Group band. Other bands cover use by people, with tooling, inside the licensed scope. Bands are licence scope, not seat counts we meter.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is a corpus of regulatory text, engineered for reliable retrieval and citation. Interpretation remains your responsibility.
